Unitrin will check with www.BBB.org to verify if you or your business are registered as a member of the Better Business Bureau. Once verified, they will apply the discount to your Oregon commercial auto insurance policy.

Persistency Discount for Prior Insurance

A Persistency Discount is a discount offered on a non-fleet commercial auto insurance policy for having prior commerical auto insurance. Whether your prior insurance will qualify depends on what type of prior insurance you had (personal auto or commercial) and what type of commercial entity your company is (sole-proprietor, LLC, corporation, etc.) Do not dispair if yoiu do not immediately qualify. If you keep your insurance in force, you will!

A discount will apply to all non-fleet applicants who provide evidence of continuous compliance with the financial responsibility laws.

An applicant using Personal Auto insurance as prior proof qualifies for the Persistency Discount on Personal Auto type vehicles only - autos, pickup trucks, vans, and minivans. You must provide us with proof of compliance at the time of the application. If you do not have it, we can ask that the discount be applied after it has been issued.

If you, the applicant, are applying for commercial auto insurance as is an individual or sole proprietor, your private passenger liability policy will be considered evidence of compliance.

Insureds who don't qualify for the Persistency Discount at the time of application will begin receiving the discount at the commercial auto insurance policy renewal.

A copy of a current Commercial Vehicle liability insurance declarations page or renewal offer.

Lay Up Credits - Farm Vehicles

There are business use applications to some vehicles on a commercial auto insurance policy that for which the vehicle is used only a few months out of the year. As an example, if you are a farmer in Oregon this might apply to a flat-bed truck used for delivering hay if the vehicle was strictly for hay delivery use. You would not want to pay for liability use on the vehicle year round while it sat collecting dust. With a lay-up credit, you are charged premium for the specific time frame you are using the truck, and a lower premium for the months it is not in use.

The following lay-up credits are applicable to seasonal use farm trucks, tractors, and semi-trailers, and the specific months must be declared on the application. These credits are not applicable to pickups, vans, step/delivery vans, or dump trucks:

Paid-in-Full Discount

Discounts, discounts, discounts. Some might seem small, some might seem big. One thing is sure, they all add up in the end. The Paid in Full discount is an easy one. You can save up to 10% off the entire annual premium of you commercial auto policy when the full premium is paid on or before the inception date of your business auto insurance policy. That's it, it is that simple. You can also save an additional 10% off the discounted renewal premium if your full payment is postmarked or paid to your agent BEFORE the renewal date.

Another advantage of paying your commercial auto policy in full is you that you avoid the monthly service charges that are normally included in your commercial auto insurance billing plan.
